Kia ora, I’m a kiwi climate scientist and adventurer. This website is where I post occasional articles and media work. Check it out if your interested in nature connection, climate solutions and building an inclusive and ecologically sound society.
About me.
My passion championing climate action and protection of our wild places comes from expeditions in the remote corners of the South Pacific. I am focused on ocean carbon removal research but have a strong interest in regenerative agriculture and economics.
I am a University of Canterbury Honours Alumni and a Provost Scholarship Recipient to the University of California Davis where I studied Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology. My PhD investigated seaweed as a natural climate solution at The Blue Carbon Lab. I am now a visiting fellow at Oxford University in the Earth Sciences department.
Historically I have had roles as the co-founder of not-for-profit charity Let Them Fish, founder of The Seaweed Solution, Both Sides Now Podcast Co-host, Bomb Bucha CEO and contributor to the genesis of Live Ocean. I am currently the founder of Climate Action Company and co-founder of Ocean Balance.
My home is Lake Hāwea Station; my family farm which is pioneering regenerative agriculture and was the first certified carbon-zero farm in Australasia. Above all my heart belongs to the most remote valleys of Te Waipounamu and reefs of the pacific.
